Put on Christ
11 And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. 12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. 13 Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy. 14 But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.
There is no time like the present to submit to the will of God and to repent of our sins, seeking salvation in Jesus Christ alone. For those who have already done so, we are to separate ourselves from out sinful desires and to make it as hard as possible for us to sin. If you have trouble with lustful desires, then put blocking software on your computer (or remove your computer altogether), drop your cable or dish tv subscription, and refuse to walk down the aisles in the supermarket that show the magazines which sell sex on every front page. Find yourself an accountability partner who is farther along in this walk than you are and who God has already shown victory over this sin in his life, then ask him to keep you accountable and to keep on top of your progress. Ask for prayer and seek council. Do whatever is necessary to defeat these sins in your life and to seek after the righteousness of Christ alone. We are ambassadors of the great and awesome King of Creation and we are not to allow others to blaspheme His name through our actions. Separate yourselves from the sins that plague you and ask Jesus to help you whenever you are tempted. God will grant you deliverance from them and you will grow as a Christian in the process.
